Dr. Guangyong Ji is the Scientific Review Officer for the Drug Discovery and Mechanisms of Antimicrobial Resistance Study Section in the Infectious Diseases and Microbiology Integrated Review Group. After receiving his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine, he went to the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine at the New York University Medical Center for postdoctoral training. There, he focused his research on staphylococcal pathogenesis. As an assistant professor of microbiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and an associate professor of biology at the Catholic University of America, he conducted NIH-funded research on the molecular mechanism of cell-cell communication in Staphylococcus aureus.
