Dr. Bonnie Burgess-Beusse serves as the Scientific Review Officer for the Cellular and Molecular Biology of the Kidney Study Section within the Digestive, Kidney and Urological Systems Integrated Review Group. She also serves as the Scientific Review Officer for the Small Business: Digestive Sciences Special Emphasis Panel. Dr. Burgess-Beusse received her Ph.D. in molecular and human genetics from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Her research there focused on transcriptional regulation of the acute phase response to inflammation. Subsequently, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, where she worked in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology studying vertebrate chromatin insulator elements, DNA sequences that recruit proteins to set up boundaries that separate independently regulated chromatin domains.
