Dr. Patrick Lai is the Scientific Review Officer for CSR’s Immunity and Host Defense Study Section (IHD) in the Immunology Integrated Review Group. He earned his Ph.D. in virology and immunology from the University of Western Australia. After postdoctoral work in Ottawa, London and Zurich, he moved to the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he was an assistant professor. His research focused on the immune responses and the molecular biology of the Epstein-Barr virus, human immunodeficiency virus and the Borna disease virus. Before joining CSR, he was director of the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Program and Chairman of the Bioscience Department, Salem International University.
