Dr. Tina McIntyre is CSR’s Scientific Review Officer for the Innate Immunity and Inflammation Study Section. She received her M.S. in immunology from Wright State University in Ohio, then came to NIAMS as a microbiologist in the Cellular Immunology Section focusing on studies of immunoglobulin variable heavy chain gene representation in autoimmunity. She then earned her Ph.D. in molecular pathobiology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where she identified cytokines and molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of immunoglobulin isotype production. She continued this research in postdoctoral studies at the NIAID Laboratory of Clinical Investigation/Mucosal Immunity before going to Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, where she evaluated the effects of innate immunity on the adaptive immune response following Staphylococcal and Shigella infection. Prior to her career in science, Dr. McIntyre worked in hospital and clinical office settings in Kansas and Utah as a registered medical technologist.
