Dr. Kalman Salata serves as deputy director for CSR’s Division of Receipt and Referral. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from George Washington University, conducting research in prostaglandin biochemistry. He worked on ulcerative colitis, autoimmune disease, and gene transcription control in postdoctoral training at the Pharmacology Department at Harvard Medical School, and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the NIH. Before coming to CSR, Dr. Salata spent ten years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the Departments of Clinical Investigation and Allergy/Immunology conducting biomedical research in immunology, gastroenterology, allergy, transfusion medicine, viral hepatitis, tropical disease, and endocrinology, as well as teaching, and supporting graduate and medical education programs.
