Dr. Calbert Laing serves as Chief of the Immunology Integrated Review Group. Prior to his appointment to the chief’s position he served as Executive Secretary and then Scientific Review Officer of the Experimental Immunology Study Section. Dr. Laing received the Ph.D. Degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He then did postdoctoral research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He subsequently moved to Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where he served first as Assistant Professor in the Anatomy and Oncology departments and then as Associate Professor in the Oncology department. Dr. Laing’s research interest has been in the field of tumor immunology. He spent most of his time in the laboratory attempting to isolate and characterize antigens of virus induced mammary tumor of the mouse.
