Dr. Alexandra Ainsztein is a Scientific Review Officer at the Center for Scientific Review (CSR) at NIH. She is responsible for organizing study section meetings and ensuring the fair review of applications requesting funding for cell biological research. She is principally charged with the Cell Structure Function (CSF) study section.

Following undergraduate studies at Brandeis University, Dr. Ainsztein received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Her research there focused on the dynamics of the cytoskeleton. She then conducted postdoctoral studies on the role of centromere proteins in mitosis at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In 2001 Dr. Ainsztein came to CSR via CSR's Review Internship Program.
